Built by a musician, for musicians. Here's the story.
Hi there! I'm @foxmulderven, a Christian musician and software developer originally from Caracas, Venezuela.
Tonico started as a personal mission. Like many of you, I was frustrated with static PDFs and docs that didn't scale on my phone, the nightmare of managing different song versions, and the sheer headache of using basic text editors to write chord charts. I reached a breaking point. As a musician, I wanted to spend my time making music, not fighting with documents.
While there are other tools out there—some even offering bells and whistles like backing tracks—they usually came with two problems: they were yet another monthly subscription, and they didn't solve my most specific, day-to-day workflow needs.
So, I decided to bridge the gap between my two worlds: musical harmony and programming.
A special shoutout goes to my good friend Roeltz, who guided me through the web technologies that made this possible. Do yourself a favor and check out kakoto.org—it's a beautiful project and his life's work.
After a few months of development, the prototype exceeded my expectations. I realized the potential wasn't just for worship teams like mine, but for every musician—whether you're studying, teaching, or performing—who needs a reliable, living chord chart.
Tonico is my way of saying "thank you" to the online community of musicians who tirelessly share their knowledge and transcriptions. You won't find annoying ads here. It's a tool built with respect for the craft.
Tonico Pro is my way of showing appreciation to those who choose to make this project their primary tool for music management. I've intentionally moved away from the "subscription trap." Instead of a recurring burden, I've opted for a fair, one-time payment.
My goal isn't to squeeze every cent out of those who support the project; it's about providing professional-grade features in a way that respects your wallet. It's a simple "thank you" for partnering with me to keep Tonico independent, sustainable, and accessible for musicians everywhere.
