Tonico is free to use, and always will be. You own your charts and collections — we just host them. Be a good human: don't post harmful content, don't impersonate others, and don't try to weaponize our exported files against us.
If you buy Pro, it's a one-time payment. No subscriptions, no hidden charges. All sales are final, but reach out if something went wrong.
We can suspend accounts that break the rules, and you can request account deletion anytime. Access is blocked immediately and the deletion job completes in the background.
This summary is here to be helpful, but the full terms below are what actually govern your use of Tonico. Please read them.
By accessing or using Tonico ("the Service"), including the website at tonico.app, the builder at builder.tonico.app, and any published chart viewer or collection pages, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
To create and publish charts or collections, you must create an account using a valid email address via our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account.
You may choose a public username. Usernames must be unique, between 3 and 20 characters, and may only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens. Tonico reserves the right to reclaim or reassign usernames that are inactive, misleading, or violate these terms.
You retain full ownership of any chord charts, collections, arrangements, and other content you create on Tonico. By publishing a chart or collection, you grant Tonico a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content through the Service, including public viewer pages, public collection pages, and search results where applicable.
You represent that you have the right to publish any content you upload. Chord charts on Tonico typically consist of chord names, section labels, key signatures, and performance annotations. Collections may include names, descriptions, notes, and ordered references to charts. If you include lyrics or other copyrighted material, you are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights or licenses.
Unpublished drafts and unpublished collections are not publicly accessible. Private charts (Pro feature) are only visible to you or to anyone you explicitly share a tokenized link with.
Tonico does not currently support permanent deletion of a single chart by itself. A chart can be unpublished, and Pro users can set charts to private. Collections can be unpublished or deleted individually. Permanent deletion of chart content occurs through full account deletion.
You agree not to:
Tonico may help users discover or attach reference links related to third-party services such as iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, TuneBat, and similar platforms. These features rely on user-submitted URLs, public provider endpoints such as public search or oEmbed responses, or standard outbound links to those services.
Tonico does not use scraping, access-control circumvention, or other prohibited technical means to obtain this information. If a provider changes or restricts these capabilities or terms, Tonico may limit, modify, or remove the related feature.
Tonico Pro is a one-time purchase that grants you lifetime access to Pro features. Payments are processed securely by Dodo Payments. Tonico does not store your credit card information or full payment method details, but may retain limited payment audit records and certain customer or transaction details sent by Dodo Payments.
"Lifetime access" means for the lifetime of the Service. If Tonico ceases to operate, Pro features will remain available for as long as the Service is online.
Due to the digital nature of the product and the fact that Pro features are delivered immediately upon purchase, all sales are final. Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis at our discretion—please contact us if you believe there has been an error.
Tonico respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe that content on Tonico infringes your copyright, please see our DMCA Policy for instructions on how to submit a takedown request.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. Upon termination, your published charts and collections may be unpublished or removed, and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You may delete your account at any time. Account deletion blocks access immediately and triggers a background cleanup that permanently removes your account content within up to 24 hours.
For legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention reasons, limited payment audit records may be retained where required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Tonico does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or musical correctness of any user-generated chord charts or collections. They are created by individual users and reflect their personal transcriptions, arrangements, and organizational choices.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tonico and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Tonico in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, where possible, notify registered users via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
